Providing World-Class Sports Facilities
Bringing the school and community into a working and symbiotic relationship has been the core passion and vision, and at the centre of this project. The Hamilton Sports Complex will always endeavour to include the community to ensure the continued success of this vision.
Five years ago Hamilton Boys’ High School embarked on an ambitious project of building a Hamilton East Community Sports Complex. The completed project would include swimming, football, hockey, basketball and tennis, facilities. The complex links into the cities cycle and walkway network. It is centrally placed in Hamilton East making it accessible to over 9,000 students and 30,000 residences.
The project is made up of a number of stages, already the 3 indoor gyms and the outdoor heated pool has been completed. The separate football, hockey turf and warm-up areas, doubling as tennis courts, are next on the list.
The school is working hard with Hamilton City Council to provide greater physical access to the facilities through Beale Street. At present the community access the existing the facilities through Argyle Street and Peachgrove Road.
Stage 1 is completed. Stage 2 is the proposed hockey turf, along with the warm-up areas. Stage 3 would include a seperate football turf, tennis courts, an indoor gym area, which is made up of indoor cricket nets, futsal / indoor hockey, and administration area.
