A new sports complex for the community

Bringing the school and community into a working and symbiotic relationship has been the core passion and vision, and at the centre of this project. The Hamilton Sports Complex will always endeavour to include the community to ensure the continued success of this vision.

Seven years ago Hamilton Boys’ High School embarked on an ambitious project of building a Hamilton East Community Sports Complex. The completed project would include swimming, football, hockey, basketball and tennis, facilities. The complex links into the cities cycle and walkway network. It is centrally placed in Hamilton East making it accessible to over 9,000 students and 30,000 residences.

The project is made up of a number of stages, already the 3 indoor gyms and the outdoor heated pool, along with the SCHICK CIVIL Hockey Center have been completed. The separate football, cricket nets and warm-up areas, are next on the list.

Swimming Pool

We have a two heated swimming pools, one dedicated small learn to swim pool and a 25m long swimming pool. There are changing facilities available on-site with outdoor showers. The entire swimming pool is surrounded by an impressive tiered grass seating.

This is a community swimming pool with the surrounding schools utilising the facilities during school hours. The general public are able to use the swimming pool during the weekends and after school hours.

Hockey Turf

We are very excited to announce that the Hockey Turf for the sports complex is now complete and officially opened. This turf will provide space for hockey trainings, matches and other sports. This new hockey turf will help to elevate existing pressures on the current turfs in the Waikato and develop an asset available to the whole community.
